囲炉裏への憧れ

囲炉裏に対する憧れが、僕にはどうしてもあるんです。でも現代のおうちにプラスするのはほぼ無理でしょう。そもそも部屋の真ん中で火を使う構造にはなってないですしね。

じゃあ庭やキャンプのシチュエーションならば…！

ということで、テーブルを囲炉裏にするというアイデアの種が生まれました。

BASIC TABLEというテーブルシリーズを作っていたのですが、これは標準で物置台がついています。天板に穴をあけて、この物置台に七輪を置けば、囲炉裏のようなシステムになるはず！と思って試作してみたのですが、実は天板の下にはベルトが通っていて、そのままでは七輪が置けません。

なので新たにベルトの穴を側面に開け、真ん中に通らないようにすることで、ようやく天板側から物置台に直接アクセスすることが可能になりました。

そして七輪を置いて使ってみると…これが非常に調子が良い！なんというか「火を囲んでいる」という雰囲気がとても良く、周りに食材を並べていく時からテンションが上ります。



食べ終わったら、真ん中でぽこぽこお湯を沸かしてお茶やお湯割りを飲むもよし。なんというか、アウトドアがもう１つ「ほっとする」場所に変わる気がしました。

BASIC TABLEより脚の厚みを増し、全体的に強度をあげていますので、普段使いでも安心感あります。もちろん、真ん中の穴は塞ぐことができます。

A longing for the irori

I've always had a longing for the irori, the sunken hearth. But adding one to a modern house is essentially impossible — homes today simply aren't built to have an open fire in the middle of a room.

So — what about in the garden, or while camping?

That's where the seed of an idea was planted: turn a table into an irori.

We had a table series called BASIC TABLE, which comes with a built-in shelf. Cut a hole in the top, set a shichirin on the shelf, and you'd have an irori-like system! That was the prototype idea — but a strap actually runs underneath the top, so you couldn't just drop a shichirin in.

So we moved the strap holes to the sides, kept the strap from crossing the center, and finally — direct access from the top down to the shelf was possible.

Once the shichirin was in and we started using it… it just worked beautifully. There's something about "gathering around a fire" — even just laying out the food gets you excited.



When you've finished eating, you can heat water in the middle for tea or a hot drink. The outdoors became, somehow, one more place where I could just exhale.

The legs are thicker than BASIC TABLE's, and overall strength is up, so it's reassuring for everyday use. The center hole can of course be covered.

对围炉里的向往

我一直对"围炉里"心怀向往。但要在现代住宅中加装几乎不可能——房间结构本就不为在屋中央用火而设。

那么，在庭院或露营场景下呢……！

由此，"将桌子做成围炉里"的种子萌发。

当时我们在做 BASIC TABLE 系列，标配置物层板。在桌面开孔，把七轮放在置物层板上，应能形成类似围炉里的系统！于是着手试做，却发现桌面下方有横带穿过，无法直接放置七轮。

为此，我们将横带的穿孔改至侧面，使其不再经过中央，方才得以从桌面直达置物层板。

放上七轮一试……非常顺手！怎么说呢，那种"围火而坐"的氛围太好了，从摆放食材开始情绪就高涨起来。



吃完后，可在中央咕嘟咕嘟煮水，泡茶或调热饮。户外，仿佛又多了一个"令人安心"的角落。

脚部较 BASIC TABLE 加厚，整体强度提升，日常使用亦十分安心。中央的孔当然也可加盖封闭。
